Chrysler Financial and The Rainbow Connection: Making Spirits Bright
Rochester, Mich. -- The Rainbow Connection is hosting their Annual Holiday Party this Saturday December 8 at Faith Lutheran Church in Troy, Mich. Michigan children with life threatening illnesses and their families will celebrate during an afternoon filled with entertainment, food, and a special visit from Santa. Home Depot employees will help the children build their own crafts while Make a Friend Workshop has each child building their very own bear! The entire afternoon has been generously sponsored by Chrysler Financial. All of the elves at Chrysler Financial’s Great Lakes Business Center have been busy preparing for the festivities this weekend.
"Chrysler Financial is dedicated to community advancement in the areas where we live and work and this program grants wishes to Michigan children throughout the year," said Brad Norman, Director – Great Lakes Business Center for Chrysler Financial. "We hope to make this holiday season even brighter for deserving children and their families."
The Rainbow Connection is a local organization that focuses its efforts exclusively on Michigan children and their families. Founded in 1985 by L. Brooks Patterson in memory of his best friend and two children who died in a plane crash, The Rainbow Connection is a Michigan-based 501c3 charity dedicated to granting wishes for children who are literally fighting for their lives. From something as simple as a new computer to meeting the President of the United States at the White House, to the most requested wish of all, a trip to Disney World, we grant wishes throughout the year.
"This annual party gives these families an afternoon away from the illness and offers the opportunity for families to spend time with each other, having fun and also lending each other emotional support. The children have a wonderful time and so do we!" explains Mary Grace McCarter, Executive Director at The Rainbow Connection.
The Rainbow Connection also provides support services, information and referral, special holiday get-togethers and picnics, and college scholarships for wish children. The Rainbow Connection receives no federal funds and depends exclusively on the kind generosity of our supporters. Eighty-two cents of every dollar goes to granting Michigan children a wish.
