Money Smart Week
December 11, 2007
The Detroit Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago will once again coordinate the fifth Michigan Money Smart Week® April 20-26 in 2008. Coordinated by the Detroit Branch, partner organizations and the Money Smart Advisory Council (MAC), Money Smart Week is designed to promote financial literacy and provide greater personal finance education to consumers.
Last April, Michigan's Money Smart Week had hundreds of free events designed to provide free personal finance education for attendees. As a MAC member, Chrysler Financial is committed to providing a number of free events during Money Smart Week in 2008. These activities are designed to provide financial education to a variety of consumers.
Money Smart Week will again include the Money Smart Ambassador Contest for 2008. This scholarship competition is for eleventh graders in southeast Michigan who will write an essay and present information on personal financial literacy. The winner will receive a $10,000 scholarship for the college of their choosing funded by Chrysler Financial, Ford Motor Credit Company, and GMAC.
