Farmington Hills, Mich. – For the fourth consecutive year, Chrysler Financial and the NNPA Foundation are partnering to sponsor the Chrysler Financial/NNPA Foundation Entrepreneurial Award. One publisher will walk away with the grand prize of $10,000 by demonstrating their business savvy and community-minded spirit.

Chrysler Financial is now accepting applications for the 2008 Chrysler Financial/NNPA Foundation Entrepreneurial Award program. This program was created to celebrate the entrepreneurial spirit of the nation's Black Press. Open to members of the National Newspaper Publishers Association (NNPA), also referred to as the Black Press of America, the program is designed to encourage publishers to seek alternative and innovative ways to promote and build their publication's business.
"The Entrepreneurial Award is a unique program and a departure from the usual awards program that generally focuses on the editorial content of a publication," said William F. Jones Jr., Chief Operating Officer -- Chrysler Financial. "Our program is business-focused and awarded to those publications who can demonstrate creative business campaigns while remaining relevant to their readers and the communities they serve."
The winner of the 2008 Chrysler Financial/NNPA Foundation Entrepreneurial Award will be announced at the News Maker Awards Dinner during NNPA's Black Press Week in Washington, D.C., scheduled for March 13, 2008.
The winning publication will receive a cash prize of $10,000, travel and accommodations to Black Press Week in Washington, D.C. and the use of a Chrysler LLC vehicle for one week. In addition, the winning publication will receive an originally designed sculpture commissioned by Chrysler Financial especially for the Chrysler Financial/NNPA Foundation Entrepreneurial Award.
Chrysler Financial also presents an Honorable Mention Award at the News Maker Awards. The winner of that award receives $2,500, a plaque and travel and accommodations to Washington, D.C. for Black Press Week.

The Data News Weekly (formerly of New Orleans, La.) won Honorable Mention for its campaign to "ReBuild New Orleans". The paper won $2,500 for its campaign to "ReBuild New Orleans". Pictured are Terry Jones, publisher, Data News Weekly and Data News Weekly general manager Cheryl Mainor.
